Countrywide to work with critic on mortgage modifications

Associated Press - October 24, 2007 3:54 PM ET WASHINGTON (AP) - Countrywide Financial Corporation is working with a Boston-based activist group that had been strongly critical of the nation’s largest mortgage lender. The partnership with Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America is an attempt by Countrywide to help borrowers at risk of defaulting on home loans. The advocacy group has recently called for a boycott of the California-based company and staged protests at branch offices.
